Geox is an Italian footwear brand founded in the early 1990s by Mario Moretti Polegato. The brand's defining innovation is the patented breathing rubber sole — a perforated outsole combined with a waterproof but breathable membrane that allows foot moisture to escape while keeping water out. The idea came from Polegato cutting holes in his rubber soles to vent his hot feet during a desert business trip.

The Geox breathing sole has earned dozens of patents and made Geox the third-largest footwear brand in Italy.
